Spring is here, and so is our first update for 2021! Read on to learn more about where we are with the Symphony Provider Directory.

Symphony participant announcements

Save the date: Tuesday, April 27^th from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM PST because we’re hosting a webinar for all Symphony participants. This session will cover how we’re aligning provider networks across the industry by standardizing data exchange. Email invitation with a registration link is coming soon!

Reminder: If you’re a Symphony contracted organization, please make sure to submit your data to Symphony in the new tiered structure. This new format is how we’ll align your provider networks with your contracted organizations, which is a critical step in getting you to data exchange. Please work with your Client Success Manager if you have any questions.

Bringing harmony to data exchange

Over the past two years, we’ve learned that the key to standardizing provider data management is to make sure everyone is on the same page—or at least speaking the same language. To do this, we created a standard method for our participants to exchange data that uses three tiers: Plan Type, Line of Business, and Contracted Party. These tiers let us match up provider networks even when organizations having different proprietary data management practices.

What does this all mean? We now ask Symphony participants to provide us with data related to these tiers so that we can align their networks with those of their contracted organizations. So far, we have plans in place to align 90% of our health plans and 75% of our provider organizations to this new standard—with one more on the way. Because this is new for the industry and important for standardized data exchanges, we’re devoting a lot of resources to support our participants.

Improving the Symphony web portal

We've moved towards a monthly release schedule to better serve Symphony web portal users this year. In recent releases we have made several updates and fixes to improve the portal including:

• Adding new features to support SB 137 compliance
• Retiring or improving several reports
• Making it easier for users to download large files

Driving industry-wide standardization

Your partnership is crucial to our success as we continue to build and implement Symphony. We appreciate that many of you have shared the challenges you’ve faced due to a lack of uniformity with provider data and the various interpretations of data quality. Here’s how Symphony will drive industry-wide standardization in 2021:

Creating standardization in measuring data quality by looking at timeliness, validity, completeness, and accuracy with our newly defined framework that is launching in Q2.

Driving more directed industry collaboration through our newly formed Data Governance Committee that will advise us as we continue to scale our infrastructure.

Simplifying how Symphony organizations ingest changes

to their data by developing the Symphony Standard Extract, which will arrive the first half of 2021.

Aligning provider networks across the industry by implementing a common language for data exchange. Read the previous section for more on this important effort.

Measuring our progress

In 2021, we’ll continue to add plans and providers. So far we have:

• 14 plans and 110+ provider organizations participants to date.
• 94% of participants who are satisfied or greater with their Symphony Client Success Manager.
• 83% of participants who are satisfied or greater with their onboarding experience.
