This newsletter concludes our 2023 Stakeholders’ Series. IHA and the Symphony Team are grateful for your ongoing partnership. We wish you a happy and safe holiday season and look forward to an exciting new year!
Symphony continues to make strides toward its critical mass target
In October, we announced Symphony’s near 50% completion of its “critical mass” target for provider records. With the conclusion of 2023 approaching, we are excited to share that Symphony has surpassed the halfway mark - with over 324,000 unique provider records in production, representing 53% of our critical mass target.
IHA and Covered California finalized agreements to use IHA's Symphony Provider Directory as the data source for Qualified Health Plans, ensuring that the state insurance marketplace has the most accurate and up-to-date provider directory information. We are currently estimating that Symphony will go-live for Covered California in 2025.
Finally, we’d like to announce the inclusion an additional health plan and provider organization as Symphony clients. The addition of these two important California health networks, along with reaching our critical mass target, supports Symphony’s goal of becoming the standard by which California’s most significant healthcare providers and plans unite to streamline and improve the exchange and maintenance of provider directory information – improving access to patient care.
Introducing “data tuning”
In response to feedback from industry stakeholders, IHA has decided to sunset the term “data mastering” from its terminology, replacing it with the term “data tuning”. IHA believes this term best reflects the process by which Symphony refines and prioritizes data from validated reference sources. The concept of “tuning” speaks to Symphony’s commitment to ensuring its provider directory data is up to date, accurate and of high quality.
Most recently, over 80,000 updates were identified during the data tuning process over a 30-day period. 84% of these were sourced from provider data and 16% from reference sources.
